Sunset

Sunset

Sunset.

Never give up. It's so cliché (ish) eh?  But there’s huge merit.  We see it in all walks of life.  Family, friends, business, sports, even your spiritual faith.  Those who just continue to do it right win in the end.  That’s the truth.  It’s been like that throughout the ages, so why can’t we stay the course?

Here are 5 reasons why it’s tough with 5 tips to keep running the race, because in the end, we promise you will WIN!

  1. Home runs are for EGO:  Man, we learned this one the hard way.  People want everything all at once.  We don’t like the waiting game, we want it all right now.  The credit industry thrives on this misaligned human habit.  That’s not how we we’re created, heck, most foragers had to wait days to find something to eat.  Don’t be afraid to hit some base hits, get on the bag, and build some confidence. If you get on the bag enough you’ll start earning some runs.

  2. Trust in the PROCESS:  This means the ups and the downs.  We all love the ups but it’s in the down times that great leaders show their strength.  This past weekend Shawn spent some time discussing training habits and performance indicators with Elite members of the U.S. Marines, guess what the Colonel said?

“It never seizes to amaze me, the young soldier who in the midst of crisis, steps up. He didn’t know he had it him. We did.  We put him through our training program and trusted in the process. With the right individual, it always seems to work.”

Powerful stuff.   Chip away at your game, and trust in a positive end result.

  3. Enjoy your GRIND:  It's hard to have balance isn't it?  But it’s the one thing that can make a great thing not enjoyable.  One of our staff was at the barber the other day and the barber asked, “So how are you doing, how’s work going?”.  Our staff member replied that he was doing great and in the midst of our busy summer season with tons of hours on the ice and that he had to grind.  The barber replied, “Right on, good stuff, I hope you get a break after your busy season!”.  Our staff member replied, “You know, I love my work, on the ice for 2 hours or 10 hours, I just love being out there helping players get better, being on the ice is my break”.   Imagine that.  Know what you love, and balance it out. Grind and you’ll never work a day in your life.

  4. Draw out your Horizon:  Why is the mountaintop so beautiful?  Why are the sounds of the waves and the amazing sunset so inspiring?  It’s because we get too caught up in the little things.  Doing the day-to-day.  That stuff is important, 100% but guys, you have to reach, you have to let yourself dream.

All over the islands of Hawaii, locals gather everyday to watch the sunset.  It’s a form of respect for them towards mother earth but also one of community, rejoicing, and self reflexion.  Go my friends, spread your wings, find geography or people that can you dream.  Draw out your horizon!

  5. Motivate to Discipline:  Most of us are lacking in both.  The ones that do most often get the order mixed up.  Find you.  Yes YOU!  Not your Dad, not your Mom, not your co-worker, not even your best friend.  We’re telling you to find YOU!  When you do, guess what happens...  Everything!  You start understanding what makes you tick, what excites you and what make you want to grind.  Having motivation now let’s discipline to take root.  Deep in your soul.  Anchor it in.  And then… You know those base hits that we talked about up top, they start coming more often.  Mixed in with a few dingers!

How did that happen?  Follow the steps above and it just does.  Trust us.  This is what we do.  We’ve created this unique hockey performance methodology that really is about Movement, Skill, Map and Transfer.

And BTW, just so you know that we practice what we preach, do you want to know what our motivation is right now? Teaching that method to the very best teachers in the world so they too can serve their athletes organically the way we do, enjoying every smiling sunset along the way.
